PRE-K3

Students in Pre-K3 use the ipads in the Computer Lab to reinforce academic curriculum taught in the classroom.  Subscriptions include Starfall, ABC Mouse, Tiny Hands, Cubic Frog and Little Big Thinkers. 

PRE-K 4 THROUGH FIFTH GRADE

In computer class lab, students use the computer as a tool to reinforce the academic curriculum taught in the classroom, as well as to obtain computer literacy in preparation for Middle School. The use of software programs with text and/or audio, video, and graphics enhance learning and reinforce the math, social studies, science, language, and spelling curriculum. Use of multimedia software helps students to express ideas, organize thoughts, and solve problems in linear and non-linear formats or presentations. Students become familiar with using clip art, changing fonts in word processing and creating stories. Students also learn the computer basics, how the computer works, and keyboarding skills. Networking instruction includes logging on and off the computer with a username, accessing files in student-shared directory/folders, saving and opening files in student folders, and printing to a network printer. Students in fourth and fifth grade will be introduced to the Internet (provided a consent form is on file), allowing teachers to integrate technology into a variety of curriculum strands.  Subsciptions include Accellerated Reading, Star Reading, World Book Online, First in Math, Spelling City,  ABC Mouse, Starfall, HearBuilder, Typing Agent and Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing.

SIXTH THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE

At this level, the computer serves to enhance the academic education through research and as a teaching tool. Computer literacy includes exploring the technology curriculum through Intel’s “The Journey Inside”. Using the Internet, (provided a consent form is on file) students explore the technology of computers. Students apply what they learn by using common business applications including Power Point, Publisher, Word, Excel, and Paint tools. Multimedia software helps to express ideas, organize information, and solve problems in linear and non-linear formats or presentations. Students become familiar with using clip art, changing fonts, and formatting in word processing, creating and editing stories, charts, graphs and images.   Students learn how to use the Internet as a research tool, allowing teachers to integrate technology into a variety of curriculum strands. Keyboarding skills are reinforced with the use of software. Subsciptions include Prodigy Math,. Accellerated Reading, World Book Online, Typing Agent, and Yeti Academy.

Google Classroom is used as a web service, developed by Google and free for schools, that aims to simplify creating, distributing, and grading assignments in a paperless way. ... Students are invited to join a class through a private code and are set up with inidividual school emails in order for students and teachers to: 

• Provide for a paperless classroom.
• Access to Google products such as Google Docs and Drive.
• Instant collaboration between teachers and students in and outside the classroom.
• Allowing teachers to better track a student's progress by allowig teachers to create classes, post assignments, organize folders, and view work in real-time.
