Best Buy Grant of $5,000 was awarded to the computer lab for new desktop computers and flat screen monitors. This will allow the students the opportunity to do much more with technology such as creating multimedia movies.
SMART Response System & Interactive Smart Board
With the push of a button on their wireless remotes, students can instantly tell their teacher how much they know. The teacher will see precisely how well each student is doing. That insight will help adapt lessons based on test results or how students respond to the questions. SMART Response is an interactive response system combining handheld wireless remotes (or clickers), a receiver and powerful assessment software that allows the teacher to create tests and manage, track, and evaluate the results.
COW (Computers on Wheels) CART - Thanks to a generous donation and some help from the PTC our school now has 24 new Dell laptop computers which can be used by the teachers in the classrooms. The laptops will assist students in learning while at their desks. New software will include Office 2007.
SynchronEyes software gives the power to manage a classroom, guide learning and interact with students-all from one computer.
The computer lab has acquired new software called SynchronEyes, computer-lab instruction software. The instructor is able to see each students computer screen on her computer. The students have also had a firsthand view of how it works in their computer classes. Many mischievous students were shocked when they lost all control of their computers and it suddenly said “Eyes to the Front Please”. Other students were flabbergasted when suddenly their computers were taken over by the instructor in order to help them through a problem. Another positive feature of the software is that one student’s computer can be broadcasted to the whole class. This enables the instructor to demonstrate to the class a specific operation on that particular computer. It is a brilliant addition to our school.
Recycle Ink Cartridges & Cell Phones
Dear Parents, Friends & Our Local Supporters: Our school will continue to collect small deskjet ink cartridges and cell phones as one of our recycling programs throughout the school year. Families can bring EMPTY printer cartridges and used cell phones to our school to be recycled and we will be compensated for each one.
This program is a safe, simple, quick, easy, profitable, guaranteed way of raising funds for our school. Empty inkjet printer cartridges can be collected from printers at home. Parents are also encouraged to collect cartridges from their places of employment and from their co-workers. When the empty cartridges are collected and stored, it is recommended that they be put in a Ziploc bag, to prevent any possible leakage. |
